Kid’s Decor: Boys like Dinosaurs

Making walls that look like they came from the prehistoric era is not that hard. The dinosaur theme is one of the all time favorites in kid’s decor. You will need to be clever with your painting and maybe even make a few of your own stencils but creating walls that a dinosaur could roam will be a fun and exciting project. You will need a few cans of paint. One in an earth tone, one white and a light blue for the sky. Kid’s decor can take time and effort. Shopping for paint for kid’s decor is as easy as explaining to the paint mixer what it is you need. They are professionals and can assist you in making the right choices.

You should begin by marking off the section of the wall that is going to act as the ground.  Making all of your mountains would be advisable at this time. Next you will paint in the brown over the base paint in thin layers until you get the color and tones you desire. If you want a more textures look, use a textured sponge to gently blot sections of the brown paint to give it a grainy look. You can use household items to increase the textures in your kid’s decor.

Paint with the white around the edges of the brown being careful of the colors. You do no want to let the white run into the brown. After the white is applied to about a foot and half from the ceiling you will need a small brush to gently smudge the lines between the white and the brown. In kid’s decor, especially for the younger ones, having a dark color at the bottom will greatly eliminate fingerprints.

Now it is time to put in your sky. You will need to mix a portion of the blue with the white to get to contrasting shades now paint the darker color upward half way the expanse. You will use the lighter shade to finish off the sky. Making skies in kid’s decor is something you do by feel. You can make your sky anyway you choose.

Once this dries you may proceed to add trees and maybe even a sun. The landscape is ripe for any items you would like to place there. Borders should be done with a dinosaur theme as well. If you are not an artist you can buy stencils or use a projector to trace the out line of the brontosaurus and maybe a T-Rex. You can go to any store that sells kid’s décor to find the borders you need.

It would also work if you were to put a cave entrance into one of the corners with a campfire glowing within. Have fun with your creation. Ask the kid’s to join in. the dinosaur kid’s decor can be as savage or as tame as your imagination will allow. Depending on the age of the child you can make cutouts of bones and egg fragments to give it more humph.
